Cookie Policy
Last updated: October 2026
A short, honest list of the cookies this platform sets — and the trackers it refuses to.
1. No banner, by design
CARTC sets a very small number of cookies, none of which are used for advertising or cross-site tracking — so you will not find a consent banner here. This policy lists every cookie we set and why. Your browser's cookie settings and any 'do not track' signals are respected; nothing on this site requires tracking to work.
2. The cookies we set
Exactly two kinds, both first-party:
- Session cookie (set when you sign in): keeps you signed in securely. HTTP-only, SameSite=Lax, secure in production, cleared when you sign out. Without it, sign-in cannot work — it is strictly necessary.
- Language preference cookie (set when you choose a language): remembers whether you prefer English or French so pages render in it. Contains only a language code — nothing personal. You can clear or block it and the site still works; it will simply greet you in the default language.
3. What we do not use
For clarity:
- No advertising cookies and no cross-site trackers.
- No third-party analytics scripts; if we ever add privacy-respecting measurement, it will be disclosed here first, with a way to opt out.
- No social-media pixels.
4. Third-party pages
When you use 'Sign in with Google', Google's own pages (and their cookies) apply during authentication, under Google's terms. Once you are back on the platform, only the two cookies above are in play.
5. Managing cookies
You can clear or block cookies in your browser settings at any time. Blocking the language cookie costs you nothing but convenience; blocking the session cookie signs you out. If you have questions about this policy, use the contact page.
